I need to figure out drag coefficient of shuttlecock and am unsure of size scale to use as it is difficult to measure with all damn holes in stupid thing can anyone help please also can anyone clarify anything about Cd to me as it is confusing all search engines seem to say different things thankyou|||damn right it's confusing
what you need is a wind tunnel, not the internet. But I guess you don't have that.
The drag coefficient is one thing; the characteristic length is something else. You need those two numbers in a pair.
Your characteristic length *may* be the diameter of the base of the shuttle, and your drag coefficient would be whatever you find in a book for a flat disc shape travelling in the difficult direction.
The pointy bit of the shuttle isn't having much effect here.
The holes probably reduce the drag in comparison with the disc because they inject turbulence into the wake and help the wake to recover behind the shuttle.
