What are they made out of NOW.|||Shuttlecocks, are made with an open conical shape with a rounded cork base which is covered with either leather or plastic into which sixteen overlapping goose feathers are embedded. Once the feathers have been thrust into the cork, glue is used to secure the feathers in place. The glue used on some of the professional birdies can take up to a week to dry. Once the glue has dried, the feathers are evenly bound with thread which is also glued into place. my teacher in PE adviced me that.|||I don't know. I think cold makes plastics and rubber more brittle so I would think it would be LESS durable.|||Ive never heard of that saying myself, but who knows it could work fine.

Where to buy good badminton shuttlecocks?

i figured a sporting goods store would carry them, but i went to Dick's and could only find birdies that one would play with possibly in their backyard. im fine with the nylon, however if i can find the feathered ones at a store near me (Chicago IL) that would be wonderful as well. nylon's fine as long as i can play a realistic match (the birdies i had bought from Dick's were not realistic in that they would clear the entire court by a mere flick of my wrist)|||Olympus sell feathered ones,.|||Well i was able to buy some at a local walmart so you might want to see if yours carries some too they are a little more expensive though.
